Is Visual Studio 2013 too slow?

We decided to switch to the "new" Visual Studio 2013 for one of our projects. We were forced to do it. We used a great Web Essential plugin, for less compilation and for our less files is working correctly only the 2013 version. Amazingly it uses for less compilation real node process behind the scene (This really impressed me).

There was a serious problem in VS 2013. It was slow. When I said slow I meant TERRIBLY slow. After a few changes made in the code the VS started to be unusable.

We blamed Resharper or Type Script plugin but after a longer googling we found it was caused by Team explorer and its' GIT support (http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/vstudio/en-US/1def7e35-b0e9-4842-bb51-70ff62242751/visual-studio-2013-preview-gets-really-laggy-and-slow). Unbelievable. We switched it off and everything works like a charm.

You can find it in Options -> Source Control -> Plugin Selection. You need to select NONE there.

Options -> Source Control -> Plugin Selection

You will loose the GIT support in your solutions but you will be able to work again.

UPDATE (02/03/2014):

It seems that for some strange reasons this options is not preserved. To "fix" this you can remove/rename this file:

c:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 12.0\Common7\IDE\CommonExtensions\Microsoft\TeamFoundation\Team Explorer\Microsoft.TeamFoundation.Git.Provider.dll

Hope this help.
